I am still hear and here's one of the things that I've been getting ready for "Jammin For Jimmy".
Today is the day for " Jammin For Jimmy". Honoring Peoria Jazz Icon Jimmy Binkley CORA, an arm of the African American Hall of Fame Museum, Peoria, IL, presents "JAMMIN' FOR JIMMY", a fundraising event to create a Bronze Relief by sculptor Preston Jackson to honor legendary Jazz pianist and goodwill ambassador Jimmy Binkley, to be installed at a location on Park Road near Sky Harbor Steakhouse. ...Raffle tickets are on sale for $10 each to win an original painting of Jimmy Binkley by artist Preston Jackson. Raffle tickets will be available at the event and may be purchased before the event at Sky Harbor or at the door for entry into the event.
The event will be Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm at Sky Harbor Steakhouse, 1321 N. Park Road, Peoria, IL. Music will be provided by Preston Jackson & Friends with an open stage for any and all musicians to join in. There will be a special guest performance by the Heritage Ensemble, conducted by Sharon Reed. Below is a copy of the painting that Preston has created to honor Jimmy for today's event.

Below is my small contribution to the side raffles that will be going on today to increase our revenue for the completion of this project and I am grateful to be asked to participate on this level. This was created with a digitized image of Jimmy and a pieced Afrocentric printed cotton boarder. The brass buttons represent the shinning light that I have learned the Jimmy exemplified. It is simple, but to the point. Jam on Jimmy Binkley.
River City Jazz Festival! Taking place on the CEFCU Center Stage and brought to you by the Central Illinois Jazz Society along with the Peoria Park District, the Jazz Festival will feature five of Illinois’ best jazz groups playing all afternoon. Bring your friends and family down to the Riverfront, for a beautiful summer day and the smooth jazz tunes!

New this year- Fine Arts Exhibition from talented local artists! This will be a first that artists will be participating and we are excited about the possibilities.
