 Greetings All,
I had a great day @S.L.A.M. (Saint Louis Art Museum.  I was most impressed and glad to have friends here that don't mind going to various galleries and museums for a good dose of art.  The piece to the left was a good indicator of  whimsy and I was charged for what lay ahead.

My main reason for going was to see Nick Cave's sound suits.  The exhibit started out with a video of his Hair Group and then downstairs to see the 1st of many that lead into the African and Pacific Islanders art exhibit.

Me and my friends and I didn't realize that I was wearing a bit of a sound-suit with my jacket being embellished as it is.  Was this a Freudian Slip???

I wander away form the group for a second and to check to see if that was a Degas?  Yes and I was so excited to see it and then I turned and behold there was another one of my favorites of Monet.

This was my last photo of the grand pond that welcomes you into the museum was slushy, but beautiful nevertheless.

New Year new piece and new exhibit.

I hope/pray that all is well with you/yours.  I am working on a new work for an exhibit that I was asked if I would be interested in participating and I was once I read about this all I could do was to say yes.  Art of the Passion brings together the creative work of several artists, each representing one of the Stations of the Cross. Their art is then displayed together during Holy Week at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Frankfort, Indiana.  The work of the artist is prophetic; their creative work has the ability to both comfort and challenge.

From the time we are young, we begin to imagine biblical stories coming to life. Whether it is the pictures inside a Children's Bible or a beautifully crafted stained glass window, art tells stories in a way that deepens the connection between ourselves, our faith, and our world.

The passion of Christ is the central story of the Christian faith. For centuries, this story has been retold and experienced in the Stations of the Cross.  Art of the Passion aspires to foster for artists and audiences a deeper sense of connection to the cross of Christ.  Art of the Passion features new artists and artwork each year. The exhibit is open to the public the week before Easter and is located at:

This exhibit encompass my faith and my art and for that I am grateful and excited.  I will be using most of the fabrics from my "Parking Lot Painted Shibori" and that to is exciting to me.  Above are the chosen pieces and I will keep you posted.

Clay Works Updates

Greetings All,
I have been busy and just not taken the time to post.  Here are a few things that I've been doing.  I have been reconnecting to my love of ceramics and I'm taking a practicum at ICC.  I am also mixing some of my hand painted fabrics in some of my new works.

 

My latest creations are several jacket created with some of my hand dyed cotton, African cotton prints, and Afrocentric cottons.  One size fits most.

Here is my latest piece in my Spirit Keeper series.   I used extruded clay, my Parking Lot Painted Shibori, cottons, wire mesh, jute cording, burlap, and wired ribbon.  This is number four and I hope that you enjoy.

This one started out horizontal, but ended up vertical.  Below there is a full and detail image of my completed piece and I am truly pleased with it.
