Greeting All,
I forgot to share this wonderful poster that I got for participating in an exhibit that honored Faith Ringgold.  Thank you Faith Ringgold for creating the poster that includes all of the 32 women that participated in the exhibit. Thank you Myrah Brown Green and Carolyn L. Mazloomi for creating this venue and allowing me to take part in such a grand occasion. This is such an honor and I'm in such amazing company.

Update

Greetings All,
I am always amazed at how people find you and your work online.  I was contacted by the author of Jabbok Dawn's blog to use an image of one of my piece titled "Wade In The Water" (below).  This piece was created so far back that I can't remember and must research to find out when I created it.  The blog owner is :Name:  Lena Warren  Passions:  Messy, earthy, Christian spirituality. Theology. Gardening.  A good glass of wine.  Justice, mercy, reconciliation and reformation. Jesus.  About me: I’m currently a pastor serving two churches—Immanuel Lutheran and Salem Lutheran—in Naugatuck, CT.  I love theology and have an S.T.M. from Yale Divinity School and an M.Div. from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.

This is my second encounter with someone associated with Yale Divinity School and want to thank them for checking me out.  God uses us in way that we don't even have a clue as to who, what, when or where someone is watching.  I'm glad to know that my piece may inspire someones on their spiritual journey.

Exhibition: January 4, 2013 – February 23, 2013

“BlueWorld/GreenWorld” reveals the beauties of field and meadow and sea and sky in work which moves from the representative, through impressionistic to abstract. Each piece is an art quilt created by a member of the Fiber Arts Coalition, an affiliation of textile artists from the upper Midwest who collaborate in securing opportunities for work to be exhibited in venues throughout the US. Members of FAC employ a variety of innovative materials and techniques in the creation of fiber art with a contemporary edge. Some members have published books about their artistic processes and are in demand as teachers and lecturers.

My piece "Soaring @ Twilight" (below) is one of the pieces that will be on exhibit and if you are in the area do stop by and check out the exhibit.
Happy New Year!

Update

Greetings All,
Yesterday I shipped off to the Illinois State Museum in Springfield, IL three of my pieces to become a part of their permanent collection of African American Quilts.  I know these are not traditional quilts the type that most museums look for and yes I do created traditional quilts from time to time, but this type of quilting is my main passion.  Also this represents who I am at it's best and the pieces that I donated are pieces that I feel very strongly about because they are some of my favorites.

Below right " Kaleidoscope Treasure" was created out of some of my hand dyed cottons and African Wax printed cotton.  I love this piece because it was present to member of P.A.Q.A. as a challenge for the American Orchid Society exhibit in Florida in 2003 and I loved the whole process of creating this piece.

"Winter Celebration" (below center) is a re-occurring theme of pieces that celebrate women because I do believe that "women hold up half the sky" and I love the contrast of black and white. I chose African Wax prints and traditional quilters cottons.  I also embellished with Cowrie shells and buttons because both were use as a type of currency in the history of Africa and United States.

"Through The Trees" (below left) was created because a group of trees that were in my front yard at time of this creation and I had a love/hate relationship with these trees.  The background sky was created during a play-date with my next door neighbors children that were curious about what I did, so I showed them and allowed them to create fabrics that I would later use in my work in honor of them and I do hope/pray that all is well with them wherever they are.  This piece is a joint donation with the support of Alexander (Sandy) Schweitzer artist/quilt appraiser and P.A.Q.A. member who befriended me from the beginning of joining that group.  Sandy is also an advocate to help increase the collection of African American quilts at the Illinois State Museum I am honored that she asked me to participate and that the museum accepted my donation.  Thank you so very much Sandy.
