I learned that these three items that I created for the NMAAH gift shop sold on opening day. I am so very grateful to Dr Carolyn L. Mazloomi, WCQN, and the Smithsonian for this opportunity.
This arrived in the mail and I am so very honored to be included in this moment in time, in history, and in such a great cloud of witnesses. Thank you Aleia Brown, thank you WCQN, and thank you Bishop Desmond and Leah Tutu for being the warriors that you are.
Greetings All,
I have been gifted a piece and I have decided to create a new collaboration series. Below is the piece that was on it's way to the trash bin so I was told and I have cut in to 4 sections and appliqued figures onto them, canvas wrapped them, and embellished with keys, cowrie shells, and buttons.
Greetings All,
The venue with the American Association of University Women in Elgin, IL was grand. There was one slight slip that I heard of afterword and that was in an articular about me as being a historian and that's not true nor have I ever claimed to be. Here are some images for that venue.
These "3 Queens" (right) where waiting for me when I arrived and they came bearing gifts and for that I am truly grateful.
The quilt shown at the left was supposedly created by slaves, bought in Kentucky, but originally from Georgia.
Greetings All,
Loving this and had to share. Netflix launched "Luke Cage" and Bisa Butler quilt Shango is on the set of the new ! How proud and happy are we that she is a part of the ground breaking show about an African American superhero! The first of its kind. Shango is in Mariahs apartment ( Alfre Woodard!).
