Hot Jazz update

Greetings All,
Here's number 3 in the Hot Jazz series from my resent play-date. I love silhouettes and I can't say that enough. I love the simplicity of these pieces and the colors and I hope that you do too. Now I'm off to make quilt sandwiches so that when time will permit I will be ready to complete the process as I listen to some cool/hot jazz while working.

Darting Needles and P.I.E.C.E.S.

Greetings All,
Last night I did my trunk-show/lecture P.I.E.C.E.S at the Darting Needles Quilters Guild (above) in Appleton Wisconsin. They were so gracious. They had great questions and wonderful comments. I am truly honored at how well received I was. Thank you Pat Bishop (below making the introduction) for reaching out to me and thanks too my friend Judy Coates-Perez for the referral.

As a result of this engagement I met Jeanne Pfister (below right) who was nice enough to give me a piece of her hand painted fabric and this has already got the creative juices flowing toward a new piece.

The last part of my trip to Wisconsin was that I got the opportunity to spend time with the fabulous Sonji Hunt again (above). I am a big fan of Sonji and to have her assisted me at the trunk show and allowed me to stay in her home was just the icing on the cake. The company and the art was just awe inspiring and the knowledge that she shared with me can't be measured. I am so very grateful to all the wonderful women that supported me during this venture. Again I'd like to thank Judy, Pat, Sonji, Darting Needles Guild and my new found friend Jeanne . By the way P.I.E.C.E.S. stands for Precepts Inspired by Episodes of Creative Expressions of Self.

Riverwalk Quilting Guild

Greetings,
Sorry I've not been posting lately, but I've been busy with other things. I did my 3rd trunk-show/lecture this week for the "Riverwalk Quilting Guild" in Naperville, IL and it went very well. I like doing them even tho they make me so very nervous when I start and then bam! Something happens and I just take off with a blast. They where very touch by my piece called Lost/Found (below) and I found myself chocking up telling about how it came about. I look forward to my next engagement. I have some new pieces on the table and I do hope to get one finished soon. The exhibit at the Harold Washington library in downtown Chicago seems to be going well also. I've gotten some good feed back. So if you are in the area it's up until the end of this month. My exhibit is on the 8th floor and I have several small works on the 2nd floor in the children's library.

Northshore Quilters Guild

Greetings All,

Yesterday was my first on the road trip. I did a trunk show/lecture. at the Northshore Quilters Guild in Milwaukee, WI. They were so very kind and had great questions about my work. I had them laughing and crying. I'm looking forward to my next engagement. The only draw back I had was I didn't allow for road construction and toll ways. This was the first time that I went out of state by myself and so I was very confused about the tolls. But you live and learn.

The second part of my day was spent with someone who I admire very much and that person is Sonji Hunt (right). Sonji came and met me afterwards and took me to her home. I had never seen her work up close so for me this was a treat. I was just blown away by seeing her work and picking her brain about her process. To see the colors, sights and sounds. I know you are wondering was her house noisy? No but when I look at her work I hear music and it's just awesome. Sonji.

I came home with one less piece (The Lawn - left) but I also came home with more art for my collection. Sonji bestowed on me 7 of her small works(below) and I am in awe. I love you and thanks of sharing. I have six of Sonji's note cards and you can check them out on her Etsy Store. They sale for 10.00 each and I'm not sure if I will send half to family or friends and frame the rest. She also gave me one of her tiny wall hanging (bottom) these are just little gems. I got the best of this deal because I also got some of her pack of hand painted/dyed fabrics that she uses to create these wonderful works.
