Artistry In Fiber
Greetings All,
Here is another self promotional moment. Artistry in Fiber, Vol. 1 Wall Art is due out in June 2017 and I am one of many to be included by E. Ashley Rooney.
"Connecting us to the wide variety of contemporary fiber art in wall-mounted format, this resource combines more than 600 photos with personal comments from 100 of today’s established and emerging artists. In conjunction with the other two books in this acclaimed series, it invites readers to re-examine fiber art through a multifaceted contemporary lens The creators here are pushing the boundaries of what wall-mounted fiber art is, using fibers of paper, metal, fiberglass, milkweed seeds, or high-tech polymers".
Artistry in Fiber, Sculpture is due out Aug 2017
Nearly 500 photos ofartwork with personal insights from 76 of today’s most noteworthyartists show the tremendously broad range of possibilities that working in three dimensions can offer. In conjunction with the other two books in this acclaimedseries, it invites readers to re-examine fiber art through a multifaceted contemporarylens. Both established artists and emerging artists whose work isattracting notice are gathered here. Carol Milne’s knitted glass and Peter Gentenaar’s technique of vacuum forming and air-drying paper fibers are but a few examples of artists using new materials with traditional methods.
You can pre order for those fiber conscious gift offerings via Amazon.

A quite day...
Greetings All,
It's been a very quite day here and I've spent most of it creating a new website between a bit of cooking. I am so very thankful for the ability to be able to do this, and I am grateful to have celebrated a birthday this week also. For a moment I tried to have a pity party, but that didn't last long after talking with my children to whom I am very grateful for and that brought me back around. I hope/pray that you all have had a great/safe day and do have a wonderful weekend. Shop Small Business, and much love to you all. http://handworksbytrishwilliams.weebly.com

Quilt - V of The Lynch Quilt Project
Greetings All,
I've been working on Quilt-V of The Lynch Quilt Project and let me tell you this has been a learning experience like no other for me.
"The Lynch Quilts Project is a community based effort, which examines the history and ramifications of racial violence in the United States of America through the textile tradition of quilting. Join us in weaving a new future towards social justice - past and present".

Quilt IV: Failed State
This quilt explores the paradox of theory vs. reality in terms of the politics and ideological framework concerning the larger context in which lynching and racial/ethnic violence began and continues to exist in America.
I tried quilting this quilt on a long-arm machine and caught all type of problems. I got help from someone who had quilted several quilts on this machine and she too caught all types of problems. This went on for days until the point that I had to take the quilt home and remove everything that I had done. I took a break for the quilt for a couple of days and then returned and finished the quilting and for that I am grateful.

Collaboration-Gate Keeper of the North.
Greetings All,
I have been gifted a piece and I have decided to create a new collaboration series. Below is the piece that was on it's way to the trash bin so I was told and I have cut in to 4 sections and appliqued figures onto them, canvas wrapped them, and embellished with keys, cowrie shells, and buttons.

AAUW - update
Greetings All,
The venue with the American Association of University Women in Elgin, IL was grand. There was one slight slip that I heard of afterword and that was in an articular about me as being a historian and that's not true nor have I ever claimed to be. Here are some images for that venue.
These "3 Queens" (right) where waiting for me when I arrived and they came bearing gifts and for that I am truly grateful.
The quilt shown at the left was supposedly created by slaves, bought in Kentucky, but originally from Georgia.

C.T. Gabbert Art Park update
Greetings All,
I did a drive by C.T. Gabbert Art Park for a photo shoot. I love the size of the mural (20 x 10 feet). I love the digital printing that's so clear that you can see each stitch, each thread, and each bead.
Here I am hanging with John who created the art car that drew me to this location in the 1st place.
My final photo below made me feel like I was one with the mural and I dressed for the occasion.

Southside with You Official Trailer
Greetings All,
I saw this on opening day and loved every minute. I also have the honor of being a part of this history and I am in awe. I two of my pieces are in one scene in the movie. Below are the pieces that you will see if you catch them, Miss Laura Fruit Tree (left) and With Open Hearts (right). I now have a film credit to add to my resume and for that I am grateful. Now if someone would just add these to their collection I would be over the moon.
