Big Sky -V

Greetings All,

Big Sky-V has return from it's tour with the FAC exhibit "Pretty Planet" Mancuso Show Management and I notice that my beading had changed colored (below top left and below center is a close-up).  So I decided to remove the beads and embellish with buttons and plus it added weight.  Updated piece is at the bottom right and I hope you like my change.

Here is the complete piece and I have added a few other elements and I'm very pleased with the finishes.  I love the face of the figure in the forefront and was surprised when the black bird showed up, but not disappointed.  This is the 1st piece on a large scale that I have completed since I've relocated to Peoria, IL and I'm glad to be back in the saddle again.

This is the fourth step in the Xhosa piece and I am loving it more each step.  This piece is machined pieced, fused raw-edge appliqued, Crayola fabric markers and Prismacolor pencils used to enhance the face and garment.  The whole piece has been quilted with Sulky Blendables cotton threads.

Greeting All,
Several months ago a call went out for art quilts to honor Nelson Mandela before he died.  I started the piece, but could never get it finish.  This week I went into my studio and worked on it each day.  This will be a simple landscape with my hand dyed cotton, gifted cotton, purchased cotton and it's title is Xhosa.  I missed the deadline, but I must complete.
