I found out on yesterday that my piece (PAQA-Water below) found a new home while on exhibit at Common Threads at the Riverfront Art Center in Stevens Point, WI. It's a small lovely piece with lots of texture and I am so very honored that someone loved it as much as I did in creating it. I miss not being able to attend PAQA for now, but hank you FAC of the opportunity to be a part of this exhibit and this group.

Below are my completed pieces from Maggie Weiss thermofax workshop and they are called the " The Watcher". I have one more that I would like to add to this series and I will post more later.

Happy Mother's Day/Piece of the Week.
Greetings All,
Happy Mother's Day to one and all. I hope/pray that you have a great/safe day. Below is the first part of a piece that I'm working on and I love its simplicity and colors. The color combination was inspired by one of my students and I'm driven by color 1st and composition 2nd in most cases, but with this piece it is theme driven and I shall share more later. Enjoy your day and be safe.

South Side Community Art Center
Greetings All,
Today I spent 3 hours at a very informative panel discussion at the South-side Community Arts Center and today's panel was titled "Preserving a Legacy: A " How To" on African American Art Collecting. Panelist included Kimberly M. Harmon, Archie Listenbee, and Patric McCoy.
Next week May 12th panel is titled, Look Within - Collective Origins and Inspirations: Women and African Art. Panelist are Dr. Robert Starks (Chicago/Mississippi), Dayo Layoe (Nigeria), Diabby Diarra (Mali), and Patrick Woodtor (Liberia). In Conjunction with SSCAC's current show of African artifacts, Shona sculpture and other works, join a distinguish panel of artists, educator and cultural leaders to discuss the presence of feminine ideas and imagery in art from Africa and by African artists. Below is a preview of some of the wonderful art that will be on display. Enjoy:>)
May 19th, Look Back" The Chicago Art Renaissances. Nigel Freeman, director and founder of the African-American Fine art Department at Swann Auction Galleries in New Your City.
May 26th, Look Around: American Jazz in Europe and Asia. Guitarist and composer Donovan Mixon shares his personal stories of an American jazz musician and educator's travels and musical work in Turkey, Italy and other parts of Europe.
If you are in the Chicago-land area this month do stop by the SSCAC on the above mention dates from 2 pm until 5 pm for a most informative afternoon.

Piece of the Week.
Greetings All,
The piece of the week is one that was created from fabric that I created and use in Maggie Weiss thermofax workshop. This is also a recurrent theme of my that deals with praise/worship. It is simple in it's construction, but it's what I do. Enjoy:>)
